The Institute for General Civil Service Preparation

Founded in 1963, the Institute for Preparation for General Administration (IPAG) was initially led by Pierre di MALTA, a lecturer in public law. Following its takeover by Professor Éric de MARI in 2002, IPAG underwent a complete reorganization, which enabled it to take off and reach a high level of excellence. Since 2010, the IPAG in Montpellier has experienced further growth, both in terms of its success rate and the diversity of its programs. In 2013, the programs were opened to apprenticeships in the civil service. On January 27, 2020, Nicolas Marty was elected Director of the IPAG in Montpellier for a five-year term.

All training programs are led by experienced professionals, including senior government officials, regional directors (Mr. Bernard DELHOUME), and renowned academics (Mr. Nicolas MARTY), as well as teachers from preparatory classes for the grandes écoles (Ms. Anne DAVID). This team effort involves around a hundred people (see the page:team).

With a success rate on entrance exams of over 75% of its students, as well as a specialized program that provides personalized guidance, IPAG Montpellier ranks among the top exam preparation centers in France.

IPAG is the smallest unit at the University of Montpellier, with only 200 students. But IPAG’s success is measured by its results, as three out of four students pass a Category A or B civil service exam. The top priority here is career placement.
